Gillian B Stockwell-Smith

Dr Stockwell-Smith conducts research in the areas of aged and dementia care in acute and community care settings. She has an interest in implementation science theory and evidence-informed change methods to improve outcomes for aged care consumers and clinicians. Dr Stockwell-Smith is currently a Research Manager with the University of Queensland where amongst other projects she has been a primary investigator on two large multisite studies led by the universities Centre for Health Services Research. The projects included the AMS ENGAGEMENT Trial, a multimodal intervention funded by the federal government to reduce inappropriate antimicrobial use in Residential Aged Care Facilities, and the Aged Care Data Compare Plus (ACDC+) project involving government, academic, and industry partners. ACDC+ developed and piloted solutions to support data standardisation, data exchange and quality benchmarking in residential aged care. She has also been a primary investigator on a Gold Coast Health/Griffith University study to establish uptake of a person-centred care package, a personal profile plus a focused program of staff education and support, in improving person-centred care for patients living with dementia in an acute care setting.
