Hip fracture treatment clinical practice guidelines have been developed in multiple countries. Similar principles apply to frail older people with other fragility fractures.
The Australia New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry has been in operation for a decade. Audits using the Registry Framework have shown improved adherence with the clinical guidelines. Clinical variation has been reduced and individual hospitals have demonstrated increasing adherence with guideline recommendations. These have been associated with improved patient outcomes.
The presentation will use case studies to illustrate approaches to rehabilitation and restorative care after fragility fractures that are consistent with clinical guidelines.
